Ponniyin Selvan: Part One (PS-I) has been all the rage this bygone weekend and the Lyca Productions, Madras Talkies produced movie set the cash registers ringing in its home state of Tamil Nadu (TN). Ponniyin Selvan I released in theaters on September 30, 2022 and in its opening weekend till October 2, 2022 [Gandhi Jayanti Sunday], the movie collected a whopping Rs. 78.5 Cr. in state-wide gross. 

Day-wise break up of PS1's gross collection in TN: 

• Day 1 - Rs. 26.7 Cr.
• Day 2 - Rs. 24. 7 Cr.
• Day 3 - Rs. 27. 1 Cr. 
• Total - Rs. 78.5 Cr. (approximately)
