Dhanush shares thoughts on being called Sexy Tamil Friend

Actor Dhanush's second English-language film The Gray Man hit Netflix on July 22, 2022 and though the Kollywood star's screen-time was brief, he made an impactful action-filled appearance to say the least. Dhanush's character is named Avik San in the movie but not once is the assassin referred to by that name. Hollywood star Chris Evans calls Dhanush his 'Sexy Tamil Friend' twice in the movie.

 

 

Reactions for the same were mixed from viewers with some calling it 'Tamil-baiting', some rejoicing at the very mention and some reminding everyone that Chris takes a quick turn too, calling Dhanush an 'asshole' in the movie. 

 

 

But here is what Dhanush himself had to say about the now famous line and seems like the actor had the same reaction to it as the viewers. News18 quotes Dhanush on the 'Sexy Tamil Friend' line as stating,


“It’s not absolutely necessary (to be referred as sexy Tamil friend) but at the same time there is nothing wrong in it. Joe and Anthony Russo told me the more we get into the details it will get more flavour to the character. So I don’t think there is any harm in saying that he is a Tamil guy from India.”

 

The actor before the release of the movie had also thrown-back to a time when he was ridiculed for his skinny looks in the early years of his career. Dhanush said that if there was one advice he'd give his younger self then it would be to not worry about body-shaming trolls, because 'one day a big Hollywood hero' would call him 'sexy Tamil friend'.
