Director Lokesh Kanagaraj had previously opened up to Cinema Vikatan stating that the highly anticipated de-aging technology used on Kamal Haasan didn't make it to the final cut of Vikram owing to production delays. The filmmaker had said that going in they knew de-aging was a time consuming and expensive process and so he had made up his mind that if incomplete, he would alternate the 1-minute portion with another scene.
As fate would have it, the de-aging portion was excluded from Vikram's final cut a day before it was submitted to censor but the work still continued on that scene. While fans had pinned hopes that they would get to see it in the OTT version of Vikram, director Lokesh Kanagaraj has now busted that myth.
In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker has said that the de-aging portion will take another 6 months to complete and that it will most probably see the light of the day in the metaverse created for Vikram movie. Lokesh Kanagaraj also added that an official details on how the de-aged Kamal Haasan will be presented to fans and what was the scene that took its place in the movie will be revealed in the future.
