AK 61 (tentative title) is an upcoming thriller starring Ajith in the lead and the movie is directed by H. Vinoth of Sathuranga Vettai (2014), Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017) fame. AK 61 is Ajith's third consecutive movie with the director, after Pink remake Nerkonda Paarvai (2019) and Valimai (2022). 

AK 61 is also producer Boney Kapoor's third consecutive collaboration with this actor-director duo and recently he revealed in a video interview that the movie has completed 35 days of filming. Boney Kapoor has also said that they plan on wrapping shooting by August, 2022. 

The producer remained ambiguous when it came to AK 61's release plans and said that he is keeping his fingers crossed for a Diwali, 2022 i.e. October, 2022 release. He had previously evaded a question in a same manner in another interview, when he was asked if Ajith is also playing the villain in AK 61. 

AK 61 co-produced by Zee Studios has has Nirav Shah for cinematography and also stars Manju Warrier, actor Veera, John Kokken (Sarpatta Parambarai fame) among others. Actor-director Samuthirakani recently confirmed that he is also part of the film's cast.
