Previously we had reported that Thalaivar 169 (tentative title), actor Rajinikanth's upcoming movie with director Nelson Dilipkumar is eyeing August, 2022 to begin shooting. Thalaivar 169 is a Sun Pictures production and the banner is repeating its Beast duo Nelson-Anirudh for this film. However with Beast opening to mixed reviews, reports of Thalaivar 169 getting dropped and Nelson being replaced are coming in left and right.

MovieCrow learns that there is no change in Thalaivar 169 team or shooting plans as of now. However it has come to light that Thalaivar 169, like Beast is a medium budget production. With Rajinikanth's remuneration alone coming upto Rs. 120 Cr., there isn't much that is going in the making of Thalaivar 169.

It remains to be seen if Sun Pictures is willing to repeat this huge star-medium budget formula, given they didn't seem to obtain optimum results using the same formula on Beast.
