Thalaivar 169 (tentative title) is actor Rajinikanth's upcoming project and he is teaming up with Doctor, Beast director Nelson Dilipkumar for the first time with this film. The movie is produced by Sun Pictures and has Anirudh for music. While Thalaivar 169 awaits to go on floors, several names have been linked to the movie as a potential part of the cast and crew.

Latest is in this list is comedian Vadivelu who was last seen sharing screen space with Rajini in Kuselan (2008). It remains to be seen however if Thalaivar 169 will be the movie that marks the Rajini-Vadivelu reunion after 14 years. Vadivelu has previously claimed that he had to turn down Rajinikanth's Lingaa (2014) because of the scope of his character in the movie.
