After 6 continuous months of being on complete shut-down, movie theaters in Tamil Nadu have re-opened today at 50% occupancy. While theater owners have already started advertising the re-opening of their screens with fully vaccinated staff (as per the state government order), atleast 28 Tamil movies in various stages of production are expected to release in the coming days.

Some of these films have waited for theaters to re-open and while others are expected to be ready to be out on the big screen, if theaters continue to operate this year. With a big holiday like Vinayagar Chaturthi soon approaching (September 10, 2021), it remains to be seen how many of these movies will eventually manage a theatrical release.
