Tamil supporting actor Maran passed away at 48 at a Chengalpet hospital after being admitted there for Coronavirus COVID-19. As per the pandemic rules, the mortal remains of the actor were cremated directly by the Corporation officials with just one family member present.

Maran's last role was in director Pa. Ranjith's yet unreleased Sarpatta where he will be seen in the role of a character named Manjaa Kannan. The director took to twitter to pen an emotional note and had this to say:

"Unbearable sorrow..Maran Anna who always showers unbridled love, your daughter is crying that you did not even show your face !! I have no words to pacify !! Be safe guys !!"
