The Madras High Court had suggested director Shankar and Indian 2 producer Lyca Productions to solve their issues out of court, in case they wanted their movie to move forward. Now both parties have informed the court that they have failed to come to an agreement, leaving the fate of Indian 2 at an impasse again.

Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan had come to a halt because the actor had refused to show up for filming over remuneration issues. When film's director Shankar shifted his focus to other projects, Lyca Productions moved High Court asking the director to complete Indian 2 first.

Shankar on his side told the court that he is available to work on Indian 2 between July and October and the only addendum he had was to re-shoot late actor Vivek's portions. However with the current dynamic between the director and producer, it remains doubtful if Indian 2 will get to resume this year.
