Since the unfortunate crane accident on the sets of Indian 2, fans have been wondering when Kamal Haasan and director Shankar will resume their highly awaited movie. There were no clear updates but it was suggested that Shankar's ADs were take caring of work with other actors. However the movie reached a stalemate soon and talks of the project getting shelved started doing the rounds.

Things took a worse dip when Shankar, a director known for not committing to new projects until he finishes his current, moved onto Telugu and Hindi projects. Even then it was expected that the director will return to shooting Indian 2 once Kamal Haasan relieves himself of his election commitments. 

However with Lyca Productions' current court case**, it has now been confirmed that Shankar had given up hopes of returning to Indian 2. It is being said that Kamal Haasan's remuneration for the movie is the real reason behind all this. The actor has refused to come on sets unless he gets paid and there seems to be some disagreement with the production house in terms of payment for both Indian 2 and Sabaash Naidu. 

So for Shankar to continue shooting his Rs. 236 Cr. project, his lead actor has to be present. And for Kamal Haasan to be on set, his pending payment has to be settled by Lyca. 

** - Lyca moved Madras High Court asking for an interim which will prevent Shankar from directing any movie before he completes Indian 2. The court has currently asked for Shankar's response in the matter and it remains to be seen what the director's side will come up with.
