Lyca takes director Shankar to court for not completing Indian 2!

Director Shankar has been in the news for committing to a Telugu film with Ram Charan and possibly directing Ranveer Singh for a Bollywood project. Lyca Productions, producers of the director's incomplete film Indian 2 seem not too happy at this line-up and they have taken matters to court now.

The production house which was already at logger-heads with both director Shankar and the film's lead Kamal Haasan ever since the unfortunate crane accident occured, sought an interim injunction restraining Shankar from directing any other movie until he completes Indian 2

Madras High Court however refused to grant one and instead has issued notice to Shankar to hear his side and he has till April 15, 2021 to respond on the order. Lyca has claimed in court that Indian 2 was planned on a budget of Rs.236 Cr. and already Rs.180 Cr. has been spent in the film's production.

They have also stated that they have paid Shankar Rs.14 Cr so far out of his agreed remuneration of Rs.40 Cr. and that they are willing to deposit the rest of the director's remuneration in the High Court as guarantee.
