The shooting of Indian 2 was taking place at EVP Film City, in the outskirts of Chennai, where the team reportedly shot pre-Independence portions. A major accident took place on the sets on Wednesday night around 9.15 pm when a heavy weight lighting equipment crashed from a crane unexpectedly.
The crane collapsed on a canopy, where the Monitor was placed to check the shots. Reportedly 3 technicians have lost their lives while 10 others including director Shankar have suffered severe injuries and are currently undergoing treatment in Saveetha Medical College hospital. Assistant director Krishna, Art Assistant Chandran and Production Assistant Madhu lost their lives in this tragic incident.
Lyca Productions who is bankrolling the project, Kamal Hassan and Kajal Aggarwal have expressed their grief and condolences on social media for this unexpected tragedy and loss of lives.
