Director Shankar made his Bollywood debut back in 2001 when he helmed Nayak, the Hindi version of his 1999 super-hit Mudhalvan. 20 years later we hear S. Shankar is gearing up for a Bollywood-entry and he will be directing a movie with actor Ranveer Singh.

Shankar was all praises for Ranveer's 2018 release Padmaavat on his twitter handle and at the end of that year, the director was spotted attending Ranveer's star-studded marriage reception in Mumbai. It is being said that Ranveer's team had approached Shankar for a collaboration and the actor even visited Chennai to meet the director.

But the script Shankar had in contention seems to have resembled Anniyan and Sony Pictures Entertainment that had distributed the movie back in 2005, thus holding production stakes had not given clearance for Anniyan 2.

Nevertheless, Shankar managed to lock a script with Ranveer even before his upcoming movie with Ram Charan, and will soon be seen directing the actor for a Hindi movie.
