Halitha Shameem directed Aelay starring Samuthirakani in the lead is expected to release in theaters come February 12, 2021. Apparently producers Pushkar-Gayathri, Y Not Studios and Reliance Entertainment had plans of premiering the movie on OTT platforms on February 27, 2021.

Since theater owners in Tamil Nadu are keen on releasing a movie only with a 30 day OTT guarantee (all thanks to the Master debacle), it is being said that Aelay may now release directly on OTT. An official confirmation on the same is however awaited.
