The shooting of Simbu, Gautham Karthik's upcoming movie Pathu Thala which is the remake of Kannada hit Mufti is currently in progress. At this time, it has been revealed that director Gautham Menon has been roped in to play villain in the movie.

Gautham Menon has directed Simbu in movies like Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya, Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada and the short Karthik Dial Seiydha Enn but this is the first time the director will be sharing screen space with the actor.

Menon's casting in the movie comes as no surprise given Pathu Thala director Obeli N Krisha had formerly worked as his assistant.

Pathu Thala will see Simbu in the role of a notorious gangster and Gautham Karthik as the cop who hounds him. The movie also stars Priya Bhavani Shankar and has A.R. Rahman for music.
