Kerala Film Chamber brings up Vijay in Drishyam 2 OTT release upset!

Recently, Malayalam star-actor Mohanlal shocked a whole lot of people by announcing that his highly anticipated Drishyam 2 will be releasing directly on the OTT platform Amazon Prime Video. The Kerala Film Chamber took no time to slam Mohanlal's decision as a 'selfish act' and brought up Tamil actor Vijay's example of patiently waiting for 10 whole months to release his movie Master in theatres.

Also a spokesperson for Theatre Owners Association in Kerala told the media that they were hopeful that the release of Drishyam 2 will bring back audiences to the big screens and that the film's OTT release only days** after Kerala will re-open its theaters has hit them hard.

It is worth mentioning here that Vijay's decision to release Master in theaters has not only found him the respect of theater owners in Tamil Nadu but even the Chief Minister of the state. Post a meeting with Edapaddi K Palaniswamy, which was said to be about increasing theater occupancy from 50% to more, the CM told the media,

"He met me to talk about the whole film industry. Vijay told me that the producers are struggling hard by investing crores of money and requested me to help them. The meet is not just regarding Master"

** - Kerala plans on re-opening movie theaters with 50 percent occupancy from January 5, 2021 and Drishyam is expected to premiere on Amazon Prime Video sometime post that.
