Theater Owners respond to Vijay's Master Release plans!

Over the weekend, it was highly buzzed that Vijay's Master which is expected to be a Pongal, 2021 release is making its way to OTT platforms instead of movie theaters. Producers XB Film Creators and Seven Screen Studio unveiled an official statement on the same, that while confirms that an offer does stand from a OTT market leader, they "prefer to the theatrical release".

Curious was the case of the next line which was an appeal to the theater owners of Tamil Nadu and it went, "We also request the theater owners to stand with us and provide their support in reviving the Tamil film industry". The official statement only confirmed what was already speculated - Master makers have an offer from OTT, prefer a theatrical release and haven't taken a decision yet.

 

Meanwhile theater owners were busy publicizing their stand-point even before the official statement was made public. Once the OTT rumours surfaced, the theater owners of the Tirunelveli-Kanyakumari area had announced that they were ready to screen Master in all theaters, pay more advance for the film and ready to forgo 'terms'.

 

The Tamil Nadu Theater Owners Association's joint-secretary Sridhar made a statement post the official press release and thanked the producers of Master for their 'decision to release the film in theaters'.
