Thalaivaa Box Office Opening Report

Thalaivaa controversy in the TN domestic markets appears to have helped the overseas collections. Thalaivaa has made respectable collections in both the US and UK exceeding many of that of Vijay starrer movies.

UK

One of the better BO performance among all markets came from the UK where Thalaivaa released in a large number of screens (36 prints - almost double the usual number of prints). Thalaivaa made £121,249 in 36 prints in the UK. Thalaivaa landed right in between Velayudham (£131,413) and Nanban (£113,418) with a significantly lower per screen average revenue.

USA

In the US, the estimated collections from Thursday to Sunday is $ 222,000 from 48 screens. When including the small screens, the opening weekend collections are expected to be $240,000. Thalaivaa's collections are roughly in the range of Nanban's opening weekend collection. However, it is sharply lower compared to that of Thuppakki's collection which enjoyed a 6 day opening weekend. The distributors are expected to break-even in the key North America markets.
