For a while now, there have been speculations that actors Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi are coming together for a film and it has been more or less confirmed that it will be for Thalaivan Irukkindran. Sequel to Kamal Haasan's 1992 blockbuster hit Thevar Magan, the movie will see Vijay Sethupathi as the late Maya Thevar's son (played by Nasser in the prequel). 

As Maya Thevar was killed by Shakthivel (Kamal Haasan) in Thevar Magan, it is most likely that Vijay Sethupathi will play a grey/villainous role. Thalaivan Irukkindran is a production venture of Lyca Productions with A.R. Rahman for music; The film is also expected to see Vadivelu make his return as Esaki, the house-help who lost one of his arms in the prequel.
