STR's long-announced film 'Maanaadu' finally went on floors on Wednesday with an official pooja ceremony. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film touted to be a political thriller has Kalyani Priyadarshan playing the female lead. According to sources, the makers are planning to release the film for Diwali. The film also starring Bharathi Raja, S.A. Chandrasekhar, Manoj, Premgi Amaren is produced by Suresh Kamatchi.

Ajith's Valimai directed by H Vinoth and Rajinikanth's 'Thalaivar 168' directed by Siva are also are expected to hit the screens for Diwali.
