'Madhura Raja' is a sequel to the 2010 blockbuster malayalam film Pokkiri Raja which starred Mammootty and Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead roles. In Madhura Raja, Mammootty has reprised his role of Raja from Pokkiri Raja. It marks the debut of Kollywood actor Jai in Malayalam cinema.  The film which released in Kerala on April 12, 2019 turned out to be a 'blockbuster' and one of biggest hits in Mammooty's career by collecting Rs. 104 crore.

The makers have dubbed the film in Tamil and released the Tamil version of the trailer. Madhura Raja is an action film directed by Vysakh and written by Udaykrishna. The film starring Mammootty, Jai, and Jagapathi Babu in the lead roles alongside an ensemble supporting cast including Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, and Nedumudi Venu has music composed by Gopi Sundar.
