Leaving aside Vijay's films which have been releasing during Diwali for the past three years, there is a lingering curiosity about which Tamil movies will make it to theater screens during the country's biggest festive season. For a while now, it has been suggested that other than Vijay's Bigil, Dhanush starrer Pattas (cracker), which carries a relevance to the holiday in its title will be releasing for Diwali, 2019. 

While an official confirmation on the same is awaited, current buzz in the trade is that two more films have more or less confirmed their release around the Diwali holiday. This makes the potential Tamil film releases for Diwali, 2019 look as follows:

• Pattas - Dhanush (Duraisenthil Kumar, Sathya Jyothi Films)
• Kaithi - Karthi (Lokesh Kanagaraj, Dream Warrior Pictures)
