Karthi and Lokesh Kanagaraj manage to create magic with this intriguing action-drama. A must watch!

Releasing on the Diwali weekend, the film proves that you don't always need a star driven commercial potboiler to satisfy the fans. Kaithi's interval block is one of the best in the recent times and it received so much applause. Lokesh Kanagaraj shows his mastery over the craft and is ably supported by Sam CS and Sathyam Sooryan to make this a cracker of a film.(more)

A pure genre film minus the frills

If there is a fault, it is that the film feels overlong for its genre, with a couple of action blocks getting over-indulgent. But when it is action that we have signed up for, we cannot complain much about that.(more)

A terrific Karthi goes all guns blazing

You could say Kaithi is one of those aesthetically-shot 'mass' movies (the cinematography is by Sathyan Sooryan, a human-pyramid like shot reminded me of Jallikattu), for not a single frame is wasted and has tonnes of camera movements. It is the kind of movie you would get when a star blindly trusts his directors vision, with a producer to invest crores on it. I wasn't too convinced when Lokesh tried knitting together Dili's past life towards the end, when a character says, "It is personal." Nevertheless, watch out for the climax sequence. It is literally blazing.(more)

Karthi starrer is a relentless action drama that has its heart in the right place

The film has some really interesting characters and each ones presence is well justified. George Maryan, for instance, plays a constable who really owns his scenes and makes a solid impact. Narain as the injured police officer brings both vulnerability and haplessness to his performance. Karthi never gets projected as the hero but he still makes one root for him with his solid performance(more)

Kaithi is a brilliantly made movie with Lokesh Kanagaraj and Karthi shining bright!

The only areas that stand out as a bit odd are the cinematic twist to the action sequences, which seem to have been added to bring in the commercial factor. The raw naturalness seems to be missing in a couple of places, especially towards the climax. However, even with a dialogue in the end scene, Lokesh keeps the viewers guessing.(more)

Karthi is terrific with his eyes, especially in a seen involving his daughter where he breaks down. Kaithi is a well made film that takes the road less travelled and provides enough thrills.(more)
