Actor Sivakarthikeyan whose first release of 2019 was Mr. Local which hit theater screens on May 17, 2019 has spoken about the box-office result of the film at a recent public event. Acknowledging that his movie was a flop, Sivakarthikeyan said,
 
If there is a win, there will be a team standing right behind it. But I there is a failure one will understand that they are standing alone..Standing alone and standing in unison does not matter here. Whether or not one is standing is what matters. Yes I'm standing!

Mr. Local was a failure. The film did not go well. The producer however profited in a big way, which I don't want to elaborate further..All I can say is I promise that fans will enjoy my upcoming films and they (his-line-up of films) will satisfy your expectations and profitable for all.

Directed by M. Rajesh and produced by Studio Green, Mr. Local was a comedy drama and had Nayanthara playing female lead. The film opened to disappointed reviews and the mixed word-of-mouth result in its box-office debacle in the days that followed.
