Ajith's Viswasam Final Box Office Verdict

Nine weeks plus since the film's release, the box-office run of Ajith starrer Viswasam has almost come to an end. The movie that gained blockbuster status in Tamil Nadu, made it into all time top 5 grossers in the state, a feat Ajith's film had not touched in a while.


And the success of Viswasam turned out to be more than a sigh of relief to every trade person involved given Ajith-Siva's previous collaboration Vivegam was a loss venture at the box-office.
 
At the end of a full run, the movie managed to gross an estimate of Rs.125 Cr at Tamil Nadu Box Office alone despite a strong clash from Superstar's Petta. Considering the costs involved, this is a blockbuster run for the film in its core market.

Apart from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka is only region in India where the film has been profitable for the buyers. Even with collections from other regions such as Kerala and Andra Pradesh/Telengana and dubbed versions not contributing much, the numbers from rest of India market helped to add a big number to the domestic gross which is estimated to be around Rs. 145 Cr.
 
With overseas estimate coming to around Rs. 35 Cr, the overall box-office gross is approximately around Rs. 180 Cr globally, thus giving Viswasam the status of being the highest grosser and biggest hit for actor Ajith.
