Superstar Rajinikanth's Petta, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is all set to release for Pongal next year. The film is already doing red hot business in the trade. An interesting update on the film is that Udhayanidhi Stalin, who has been voicing against Rajinikanth's political views, has grabbed the distribution rights of the film for North Arcot, South Arcot, Chengalpet, Madurai and Salem regions.
This move attracted some sharp criticisms from Twitteratis. Many of them recalled Udhayanidhi's tweet after the Thoothukudi Sterlite protest firing, in which he had openly condemned Rajinikanth.

In replying to a senior journalist's remark that Udhayanidhi has lost his right to remain in the DMK as he has collaborated with Rajinikanth to make money, Udhayanidhi has replied stating that he never mixes his business with politics.
