2.0, the sci-fi venture made with a budget of more than Rs 500 crore has entered the Rs. 500 Crore club, said an official announcement from Lyca Productions. The worldwide collection of the movie has touched this said figure within seven days of the film's release and it is the first film from Tamil Nadu (Kollywood) to achieve this feat.

Karan Johar, who had distributed the Hindi version of the film also took to his twitter page to express his happiness at the film's box-office collections.

2.0 saw Rajinikanth return as in his 'Dr. Vaseegaran' and 'Chitti The Robot' characters while additionally playing the mini-bot called 3.0. Together they faced antagonist Akshay Kumar, who also made his debut in Tamil with this Shankar directorial.
