Vijay's Sarkar starts screening with three scene changes!

Following the ruckus involving Sarkar and its objectionable scenes, in which AIADMK party members were involved in vandalism outside movie theaters, head of the theater owners' association in Tamil Nadu Thiruppur Subramanian confirmed last evening that the scenes objected to would not be screened in theaters further on.

Theaters had also stopped shows of the Vijay starrer till the situation came under control and now Sarkar is being screened again with two scene changes. The usage of the name 'Komalavalli' (a reference to Jayalalitha) has been muted and the scene that depicted A.R. Murugadoss throwing an 'AMMA mixer grinder' in the fire has been blacked out.

While Tiruppur Subramaniam has maintained that it was 'not their intention to hurt anyone's feelings', Abirami Ramanathan on the other hand has said that the censor board has been notified of such a modification.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Film industry doesn't seem too happy about the ruckus or the need for removing scenes from a censored film:

Rajinikanth: After the Censor Board censors and releases a film, fighting to remove some scenes from the film, banning its screening and damaging the film banners are illegal acts. I strongly condemn such acts.

Kamal Haasan: "It is not new for the current ruling party to illegally and politically maneuver a film like Sarkar, which has been formally certified (by the censor board). A government which does not have the stomach for accepting criticism can go off track. Political traders will soon disappear. Good people who are born to rule this country will win."

Seenu Ramasamy: Wanting to censor a film which has been certified by the CBFC is a legitimate crime. Then you have to re-censor with the deleted scenes and this is the procedure, So no one or no organization has the right to remove any scenes.
