Bhagyaraj apologizes to Sarkar producers, Writers Association refuses his resignation!

Following his highly publicized involvement in the Sarkar story issue, president of the South Indian Film Writers' Association, K.Bhgayaraj had resigned from his post as President of SIFWA earlier today. Though his son and actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj claimed that his father's resignation has nothing to do with the Sarkar controversy (tweet here), hints of the same did find a mention in Bhagyaraj's resignation letter.

Excerpts of the letter said, "When Sarkar issue came under investigation..I was able to handle it well and with honesty. But I had to encounter a lot of unwarranted obstacles while handling it. I feel one of the main reasons for this to be, me becoming President without any elections...For the benefit of this association I do not wish to elaborate the nature of the difficulties I faced."

Bhagyaraj had also taken his resignation as an opportunity to apologize to Sun Pictures, who are the producers of Sarkar. He said, "Also: despite my requests, since AR Murugadoss did not cooperate, I was forced into a situation where I had no other go but to reveal the plot of a big film like Sarkar which is produced by a big firm like Sun Pictures. However, having realized the mistake, apologize to the concerned producers of Sun Pictures."

The writers' association on the other hand has refused to accept his resignation and have asked Bhagyaraj to continue as the President of the SIFWA.
