Sarkar starring Vijay and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles directed by A.R. Murugadoss is gearing up for Diwali release. The film has done record pre-release business even before its release which is the highest ever in Vijay's career. Kollywood Movies and Narmadha Travels have acquired the USA distribution rights of the film for a record price of Rs. 4.1 cr beating Mersal's record of Rs. 3.5 cr. The Canada rights have been sold for Rs. 1.30 cr. 

Sarkar will be releasing in more than 150 locations in USA. The film will have its premier on November 5, 2018. The most awaited teaser of the film is set to be unveiled on October 19, 2018. Bankrolled by Sun Pictures, the film has music by A.R. Rahman. Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Radha Ravi, Karu Palaniappan, Yogi Babu are also part of the cast.
