Nimisha Sajayan is set to appear as a lawyer in Enna Vilai, written and directed by Sajeev Pazhoor, and the actress has revealed that a real-life courtroom visit completely transformed her approach to the role. Speaking about her preparation, Nimisha said that while she had played a lawyer before, the experience of observing actual court proceedings in person gave her an entirely different perspective.
"The arguments, conversations, and overall atmosphere were far more natural and realistic than I had imagined. That experience significantly influenced the way I approached the character, particularly the dialogue delivery and courtroom portions," she said, adding that director Sajeev Pazhoor had specifically asked her to visit a courtroom and closely observe the proceedings before filming.
The film also marks a deeply personal reunion for Nimisha. Sajeev Pazhoor was the writer of Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, the film through which she made her debut as a lead actress nine years ago. Enna Vilai sees him stepping into the director's chair for the first time, making it a milestone in both their journeys. "Nine years later, he brought me on board for a project written and directed by him. I have known and admired him as a writer, but through this film, I had the opportunity to witness his vision and abilities as a filmmaker for the first time," she said.
Enna Vilai is set against a socially relevant backdrop rooted in the practice of devotees offering coins into the sea near Rameswaram. The story follows an individual who attempts to retrieve the coins from beneath the waters, triggering a struggle rooted in dignity and survival that gradually escalates into a significant legal battle with the potential to draw nationwide attention.
The film features a large ensemble cast including Karunas, Vijayalakshmi Ahathian, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Y G Mahendran, Motta Rajendran, Nizhalgal Ravi and others. Sam CS composes the music, with Alby Antony on cinematography and Sreejith Sarang editing. The film is produced by Githesh V under Kalamaya Films and is gearing up for a theatrical release soon.
