If I become a CM, I will not act as one: Vijay's Political word play was a crowd-puller at Sarkar Audio Launch

The usually shy and a man-of-few-words Vijay was rather open and expressive at the Sarkar audio launch that happened last evening. And for the first time, the Thalapathy actor used a major platform to be more open about his political ambitions; irony being he did so in the presence of his producer Kalanithi Maran, who himself is affiliated to a major political power-house in Tamil Nadu, the DMK.
 
Excerpts of the fiery one-liners from the event, which were received to thunderous applause can be seen below:

Vijay:
  • There was a little bit of politics in Mersal but in Sarkar, A.R. Murugadoss (director) has done Mersal (amazing things) with politics!
  • Usually, people contest in political elections and then form a Sarkar, but here we have formed a Sarkar and will be contesting in the elections (and quickly added) I was talking about the film! If you like the film, please vote for it.
  • To actor Prasanna's questions, "No I am not acting as a Chief Minister in this film (Sarkar)...If I become a Chief Minister in real life, then I will not act as one. Meaning I will be true in real life." 
  • Hypothertically (if I become a Chief Minister), I would like everyone want to abolish bribery and corruption.
  • [Elaborating his thoughts on politics]: Only if the leader in a place is correct, will his followers be the same. Just like how it rains when there is high humidity, high pressure will automatically bring out the quality people (into politics). Here, there will be a person (presumably a reference to himself) who has faced the music and will emerge as the leader. The Sarkar functioning under him will be (made a hand gesture to indicate it will be top notch).

Radha Ravi:
  • This isn't an audio function. It's a mini people's conference..Kalanithi Maran should have conducted the launch at a beach to accommodate the crowd.
  • Vijay helps a lot of people without much fanfare..He is required for our society.

 

Kalanithi Maran: 

  • In the Tamil film industry, I know only two people to be very humble - one is superstar Rajinikanth and the other is Thalapathy Vijay.
  • Vijay has done many films and many characters. But he has another phase after this (indicating Vijay's political career). Even Rajini Sir has done that (entered politics). [Then jokingly added] What you people thought about (politics) is something he will do, but what I was talking about is an all India level 3D picture. 
  • I want Tamil film industry's 'Thalapathy Vijay' to turn into an all India level 'Thalapathy Vijay'.
