Movies This Week: Tapsee and Rishi Kapoor Shine Away with Mulk!

Despite only one release in Tamil, theatres in Tamil Nadu are brimming up with releases in Hindi, Telugu and Malayalam. A look into the films that are occupying theatre screens this weekend:


  • Mulk (Hindi)Based on real-life incidents, Mulk is a film about how a Muslim family defends its honour in India after a one of their family members, becomes a terrorist suspect. Rishi Kapoor and Tapsee Pannu play main roles in this movie, which has garnered a rating of 72% in our film rankings.

 

  • Ghajinikanth (Tamil)Ghajinikanth is a comic entertainer which follows the story of a man who is easily forgetful and falls for a girl from whom he is trying to hide this fact. A remake of Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, Ghajinikanth could serve as a dose of laughter this weekend though it has been passed off  as a one-time watch. (Review Here)

 

  • Goodachari (Telugu)This Adivi Sesh starrer is gaining a lot of accolades for being an engaging spy-thriller and has garnered a 63% in our movie ratings. The film is about an ambitious RAW agent finally getting his break and immediately having to face his unforeseen foe. 

 

  • Karwaan (Hindi)Karwaan is a film where North meets South - it starrs Irrfan Khan and Dulqer Salmaan and it is Hindi film picturised throughout the South. A dark comedy, the film's story follows two friends on a journey to mourn the demise of one's father, and in the process getting introspective about life. Karwan has opened to mixed reactions but has been passed as a film worth watching
 
  • Chi La Sow (Telugu): Another good release from the Telugu Film industry this week, Chi La Sow is a romantic tale of two reluctant-about-marriage youngsters finding love. The film is a debut venture of Rahul Ravindran and his film is being praised all over for winning hearts.
 
  • Fanney Khan (Hindi)If you are in for a dose of Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai, Rajkumar Rao and a lot of laughs, then Fanney Khan is your movie. A remake of an International film, Fanney Khan might not have opened to good response, but the reactions to the film haven't been entirely bad either.
 
  • Iblis (Malyalam): Asif Ali and Madonna Sebastin starrer Iblis is a fantasy movie that has opened to mixed response this week. The story of the film revolves around the male lead trying to woo the female lead while living in a cursed village where the dead co-exist with the mortals. The movie passes every potential of being your weekend pick if you like out-of-the-ordinary films.
