Some Fun But Just Remains Watchable!

ajinikanth is a passable comedy. It is reasonably funny but it ought to have been more consistently funny, given the fact that there was ample scope for the same.(more)

Family-friendly comedy entertainer

Though Ghajinikanth is a faithful remake of a hit film, the first half moves slowly and the climax fight turns out to be unintentionally funny and silly. Technically, Balamurali Balu's songs are hits and his background score is adequate. Ballu's colorful cinematography and GK Prasanna's cuts are the other positive aspects of the film. Overall, Ghajinikanth is a time pass entertainer and you will enjoy watching it with family and friends!(more)

Despite the film offering great scope for comedy, Ghajinikanth is entertaining only in places.

In the end, the film strongly reminds us of its hero - mildly amusing but instantly forgettable.(more)

Arya is decent but his comic timing isn't as incredible as Nani's from the original

Arya's acting ability is just adequate while Sayyeshaa, who plays a trained Kuchupudi dancer, looks stunning and is getting better with every film. Sathish is a scream as the hero's friend while Naren, as his father, and Sampath, as his prospective father-in-law, have performed well. The film moves at a leisurely pace and could have been trimmed more in the first half. Overall, if you have nothing else to do, Ghajinikanth is a time-pass entertainer.(more)

This Arya starrer is yet another string of cliches and outdated tropes

There are several ways to keep the viewer engaged - it could be through the story, it's characters, the writing or the filmmaking. Sadly, Ghajinikanth doesn't tick any of the boxes.(more)

Arya film shines in parts

While Ghajinikanth is an apparent remake of the Telugu hit film Bhale Bhale Magadivoy, it fails to come anywhere close. The former did not have much by way of logic either, but at least its bits of situational comedy were great and the lead character - Lucky (played Nani) - was quite capable of making one laugh out loud.(more)

The forgetful funnyman

Ghajinikanth goes along smoothly. But the portions in which it takes itself too seriously - there's a cop (Lijeesh) who is besotted with Vandana and that leads to an unnecessary action sequence in the end - bog it down big time. Director Santhosh Jayakumar, who gave us two sex comedies (Hara Hara Mahadevki and Iruttu Arayil Murattu Kuththu), does have a fair comic streak in him - something that reminds me of Rajesh during the Siva Mansula Shakti and Boss Engira Bhaskaran times - and he should develop that more in the future.(more)
