Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha play the lead roles in 96 movie directed by C. Prem Kumar who has handled the camera for Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kanom. MovieCrow has learnt exclusively that the makers are planning to release the film on August 31. 96 will be Vijay Sethupathi's third release this year after 'Oru Nalla Naal Pathu Solren' and recently released 'Junga'. Also the makers of Chiyaan Vikram's Saamy Square are also looking at releasing the film on the same date. However an official confirmation is awaited from the makers.

96 is a love story that unfolds in class 12. The title refers to the year of a school batch. The teaser of the film has received overwhelming response from the critics and audience. The first single Kaathalae Kaathalae (song which featured in the teaser) has been unveiled yesterday. Music by Govind Vasantha. The film is produced by Madras Enterprises.
