Anirudh, Karthik subbaraj to bring back SPB song tradition for Rajinikanth!

 

For many years, Tamil films starring Rajinikanth followed the tradition of opening the film with a song sung by singer S.P.Balasubramanian (otherwise known as SPB). However, much to the dismay of Rajinikanth's fans, his last few films Kabali and Kaala were a step away from this sentiment (just like Pandian, Baba and Kuselan) and his other upcoming film 2.0 too did not show any signs of having SPB sing a song in it. Nevertheless, the celebrated combo of Rajini and SPB may indeed be returning as word in the grapevine suggests that director Karthik Subburaj's film with the Superstar will feature an opening song under Anirudh's composition and it will be crooned by none other than SPB himself.


Though there is no official confirmation to this as yet, the development sure brings hope of a hit number, for some of the most popular tracks of Rajinikanth's like Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalaali (Muthu), En Peru Padayappa (Padayappa), Devuda Devuda - (Chandramukhi), Balleilakka(Sivaji), Pudhiya Manidha (Enthiran) have been voiced by SPB.
