After 35 years of ban, Saudi Arabia's first movie theatre opened on April 18, 2018 in the capital city of Riyadh. AMC Cinemas signed an agreement with the Saudi Arabian government to open several movie theaters in the country, where theaters have been banned for 35 years for religious reasons. Marvel's "Black Panther" was the first movie to be publicly screened in Saudia Arabia following an end to the country's 35-year ban on cinema.
Superstar Rajinikanth's Kaala will now be the first Indian film to be screened in Saudi Arabia. Kaala directed by Pa. Ranjith has hit the screens worldwide today (June 7). The film has received mostly positive reviews from the audience and critics alike. The production house shared the news on their official Twitter handle

Kaala also stars Nana Patekar, Easwari Rao, Huma Qureshi, Anjali Patil and Samuthirakani in important roles. Music by Santhosh Narayanan. The film is produced by Dhanush's Wunderbar Films. However Kaala did not release in Karnataka has several pro-Kannada outfits had opposed the release of the film in the state, stating that Rajinikanth’s statement regarding the Cauvery issue had hurt the sentiments of Kannadigas.
