Reasons why Karthik Subbaraj wants to release Mercury despite TFPC strike

Karthik Subbaraj has confirmed that his silent thriller film Mercury will release as planned on April 13. The release of all Tamil films has been stalled from March 1, due to the ongoing strike in Tamil Film Industry. The makers of Mercury have planned to release the film globally. Since Mercury, being a silent film, has no language, they have planned to release it under the category of other language films.

 

While there are many other Tamil films which are lined up for release and awaiting an amicable solution for the strike to get over, the news has been a shock and surprise to many of them in the film industry. Karthik has also clarified his stance on releasing the film despite the ongoing strike.  The director took to his Twitter page and wrote:

 

 

Karthik Subbaraj had also announced that the film’s trailer will be out today. However the trailer release has been postponed.
