Taking to his social media page, director Karthik Subbaraj announced the release date of his upcoming film Mercury to be April 13, 2018. The movie which starrs Prabhu Deva in the lead will be releasing in time for the Tamil New Year holiday and will potentially be met by Venkat Prabhu directed Party at the box-office. Also starring Sananth Reddy and Remya Nambeesan among others, Mercury is said to feature Prabhu Deva in a grey role. The movie is Karthik Subburaj's second home production and his fourth feature film as a writer and director.

Bankrolled under the banner Stone Bench Films, Mercury has Santhosh Narayanan for music, Tirru for cinematography and Vivek Harshan for the edits. Touted to be a thriller, the movie comes with no dialogues and falls under the 'silent film*' category. 

*In silent films, the dialogue is transmitted through muted gestures, mime and title cards.
