Thuppaki seeks apology, removes objectionable scenes
Leading Islamic parties in Tamil Nadu came together to protest against certain objectionable scenes in Thuppaki that may have shown Muslims in poor light. Failure to chop those scenes would have resulted in party members conducting a dharna in front of Vijay's house. During the last few days, talks were held between Islamic parties and Thuppaki team. Finally, compromises were made resulting in removal of all objectionable scenes from all theatres in Tamil Nadu and other select locations (both digital and physical prints).
A joint press meet was convened yesterday where Director Murugadoss, Producer Kalaipuli Thaanu, SA Chandrasekhar on behalf of Vijay, participated along with Islamic party leaders. Thuppakki team members individually took responsibility for the mistakes, expressed regret by accepting the sensitivities and profusely sought apology for unknowingly hurting the sentiments. SA Chandrashekar in his speech promised that Vijay will make amends by acting as a Muslim in his future movie.
