Kamal Haasan's brother Chandra Haasan paases away


82 year old Chandra Haasan, father of actress Anu Haasan and elder brother of actor Kamal Haasan, passed away in London on a late evening of March 18, 2017. The actor cum producer suffered a major cardiac arrest which eventually led to his death. He is survived by his son Nirmal. 


Condoling the unexpected demise of his elder brother, Kamal Haasan took to twitter to send out this poetic message (translated from Tamil)


" My life blossomed because I got him as my friend, my teacher, my brother and my father. I did not fulfill even half the dreams he saw for me." 


Chandra Haasan was managing their home banner The Raj Kamal Films International along with Kamal and their other brother Chaaru Haasan. Before his death, he had also shot for a movie called Appathava Aataiya Potutanga, opposite Sheila (actor Vikranth's mother) in the lead. The movie is about two elderly people falling in love in a facility centre. 


Yesteryear actress Suhasini Manirathnam, daughter of Chaaru Haasan and neice of Chandra Haasan wrote :


"My uncle chandrahasan, father of Anu Hasan...left us yesterday. We Hasans lost a rare gem"


Actress Shruthi Haasan, condoled her late uncle's demise and thanked everyone for reaching out. She wrote:


"May my uncle rest in peace - an honourable man with equipoise, strength of character and many achievements - Thank you for the condolences"

 

Actress Akshara Haasan (Shruthi's sister and Kamal's second daughter) posted a heart-felt message for her late uncle.


" May you RIP dearest Chandra Uncle. A man who taighy me the basics of business and how to tie a tie. Will never forget what you taught me." 


On behalf of the film fraternity, The South Indian Film Artists Association, condoled the death of Chandra Haasan. It said :


"The Association extends its deep condolences to family of Kamal Haasan and Chaaru Haasan on the demise of Chandra Haasan"
