Karuppu, directed by RJ Balaji and starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, is gearing up for its theatrical release on May 14.

Speaking about the film, RJ Balaji described it as a major leap in his career, stating, “Karuppu is 15 times bigger in scale than my previous projects like Mookuthi Amman and Veetla Vishesham. I was not appointed for such a majestic project, but I made myself prepared for it.”

He also praised Suriya’s approach on set, saying the actor made him feel at ease despite being a major star. “He will make you feel like he is the newcomer in the project,” he added.

RJ Balaji further revealed that Karuppu will be a feel-good commercial entertainer, drawing inspiration from classics like Muthu, Padayappa, and Ghilli. He emphasised that the film will feature relatable characters and everyday professions, along with a strong social message.

The film boasts a large ensemble cast including Yogi Babu, Prakash Raj, Mansoor Ali Khan, Kaali Venkat, Sshivada, Swasika Vijay, Indrans, Supreeth Reddy, Jaffer Sadiq, and Anagha Ravi, among others.  Music for the film is composed by Sai Abhyankkar.
