Important Day for Thuppakki and Maattrraan

It is an important decision day for the two most anticipated movies of the year. One is facing the censor board and another high court today.

Maattrraan faces the censor today

Maattrraan censor certification viewing is scheduled for today. The team is hoping to get a clean "U" Certificate since the movie is expected to explore a strong social theme never touched before. There is so much money riding on the censor decision that the certification of "U" or "U/A" will make a difference of at least Rs. 25 Crores required to break-even. The distributors who have invested big in this movie are praying for a clean "U" certificate.

Thuppakki Title Verdict

Vijay and AR Murugadoss' Thuppakki is appearing for final round of hearing today at Chennai High Court. The "Thuppakki vs. Kallathuppakki" title issue has been going on since May when the first look was launched (more than 4 months now). During this time period, Thuppakki couldn't do any official promos. If the decision is not made today, the team will move on to announce their new title and launch audio and first look teaser by end of this week. AR Murugadoss had tweeted ahead of the judgment today -- "ஜனநாயகத்தின் கடைசி நம்பிக்கை நீதிமன்றம்". All the best to Thuppakki team! 

UPDATE - Thuppakki judgment postponed again. Next round of hearing on October 5th. 

Thupppakki teaser to be loaded along with Maattrraan

There are speculations that Thuppakki's first look teaser will be shown with Maattrraan prints starting October 12th in theatres. If this happens, this is expected to favour both Suriya and Vijay in reaching out wider. Similarly in the past, Maattrraan teaser was shown with Billa 2.
