MovieCrow Box Office Report - April 29 to May 1

Vijay's Theri continued to rule the box office in spite of new releases and the movie is expected to have a free run until the release of Suriya's 24 this weekend. Udhayanidhi's Manithan took a fair opening at the box office. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Theri

Theri seems to be unstoppable at the moment and in fact, the movie released across some of the Chengalpet screens last weekend after the tussle between distributors and theatre owners came to an end. Already declared a Blockbuster in Chennai and into the 100 crore club, Theri is expected to get extra mileage out of Chengalpet screens for a week or two.

2. Manithan

Udhayanidhi Stalin's Manithan, directed by Ahmed, opened to fairly positive reviews, with many of the critics calling it the actor's best film already. However, it would be interesting to see if the movie manages to hold on to its screens during the upcoming weekend.

3. Vetrivel

Sasikumar's Vetrivel lost majority of the screens in its second weekend and the actor has clearly missed to impress his fan base in a rural avatar this time.

Upcoming week's releases

Suriya's sci-fi film, 24, will take the theatres by storm on May 6, and pre-release buzz is sky high for the film.
