MovieCrow Box Office Report - August 21 to 23

Vijay Vasanth's Jigina had hit the screens last weekend, and it opened to its share of fair reviews. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Vaalu

Simbu's Vaalu was still going strong at the box office, as his fans continued to celebrate his silver screen avatar after three years. However, it is too early to predict the box office status of the film, as VSOP is eating into its share.

2. VSOP

Arya - Santhanam's VSOP was finding its takers, who are particularly youngsters, in spite of mixed reviews. This harmless fun film is expected to hold on to the screens for a couple of more weeks at least.

3. Baahubali

The biggest blockbuster of the year, Baahubali, still registered housefull shows across the multiplexes in its 7th weekend. The movie might very well hit the century mark, if the same momentum continues.

Other Movies

Vijay Vasanth's Jigina received appreciation from the media for its sensible plot, but could not make a huge impact amidst the mad rush. Kamal Haasan's Papanasam was running across a handful of screens, with good occupancy levels.

Upcoming weeks releases

Jayam Ravi's Thani Oruvan will be hitting the screens on August 28, along with few lesser known films.
