MovieCrow Box Office Report - June 5 to 7
National award-winning film, Kaaka Muttai opened to extremely positive reviews and the movie took one of the biggest openings for a small budget film in the recent past. Singer Krish's debut film as an actor, PAPA, opened to lukewarm response across a few screens, with many of the leading websites not even reviewing the film. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

Suriya's Masss received encouraging support from the kids and family audience, before the summer vacation came to an end. It would be interesting to see how this family friendly horror film holds on to the screens this weekend, with Kaaka Muttai becoming the talk of the town.
2. Kaaka Muttai
Director Manikandan's debut film has struck the right chord with the audience across all centers. Contrary to the popular myth, this national award-winning movie is not a tearjerker, and it has worked big time with the audience. .
Demonte Colony came back strong after Masss' release and this once again goes to show that content wins over star power. The movie has been declared as a hit by trade pundits.
Other Movies
Jyothika's 36 Vayadhinile, which has already been declared as a hit, was running across a handful of screens in the city, while movies like Uttama Villain, Vai Raja Vai and OK Kanmani were screened in a theater or two.
Upcoming week's releases
Santhanam's Inimey Ippadithan and Jayam Ravi's Romeo Juliet will be clashing at the box office on June 12.
