Anegan Preview - SWOT Analysis

Dhanush is on a roll, literally. After the success of Velai Illa Pattathari last year, his second Bollywood film Shamitabh has also opened to positive reports last week. With director KV Anand, who is one of the most successful commercial directors in the tinsel town, teaming up with Dhanush for the first time, expectations on the movie are naturally high.

Strengths

• Dhanush has become a household name across the nation now. His choice of films and roles have been more than impressive over the last few years. The same trend is expected to continue with Angean too, as he has donned several interesting get-ups for the film.
• Director KV Anand is usually known for getting the formula right for commercial entertainers. After getting mixed reviews for his last film Maattrraan, he is expected to be back with a more engaging entertainer.
• Under Harris Jayaraj's music, 'Danga Maari' has become an instant hit across all centres. KV Anand - Harris Jayaraj team has always produced musically sound films. The talented technical team comprises of cinematographer Om Prakash and editor Anthony.
• Karthik is back to don the greasepaint after a long hiatus, and his role is touted to be a very important one. Subha's dialogues are also expected to be the highlight of the film.

Weakness

• Amyra Dastur is the weak link in the film, as she has an uphill task of matching Dhanush's screen presence in the film. However, in the past, KV Anand had utilized actresses like Karthika Nair and Pia well, who were not so successful in other films.

Opportunities

• For Dhanush, this film's success would mean that he is on a winning streak and his forthcoming films will be keenly watched. As he has already announced his third Bollywood film with Anand L Rai, Dhanush is now being looked upon as a pan India actor. His growth will be crucial, as he has set as an example for his generation of actors in Tamil industry.

Threats

• The movie's release is coinciding with the Cricket World Cup, which is the most followed sporting tournament in our country. The movie has to generate positive word of mouth right away, so that people shift their attention from cricket. Thanks to the time difference between the venues of matches and India, people can still make it to evening and night shows. 

Final Words

Going by the trailer, the movie is expected to have a unique premise and riveting screenplay. Will Dhanush continue his dream run and will KV Anand get back to providing some flawless fun? We will be back with the FDFS review.
