Vikram appearing in a fun-action-commercial movie after a long time has created expectations among fans. Suseendran has a good track record and has been able to juggle commercial and off-beat subjects with ease (Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu, Naan Mahaan Illai, Azhagarsamyin Kudhirai). This is the first time Suseendharan has decided to go for a big budget full-fledged commercial movie. 

Strength

• Vikram is known for choosing subjects with substance and potential to showcase his acting skills. Fresh from the success of Deivathirumagal, Vikram's fans will ensure a packed weekend opening.

Weakness

• Rajapattai music album got a luke-warm response despite the expectations surrounding Yuvan and Vikram coming together for the first time
• Everything about the movie feels a bit too rushed. The audio release and movie release had less than 2 weeks in between, one of the shortest gaps in the recent times.

Opportunity

• There are no other Tamil movies releasing along with Rajapttai. The solo release and moderate cost of production will ensure the movie is expected to bring home the money that was invested.
• Christmas, New Year season and the holiday spirit is expected to bring more people to the theatres. In International markets, the back-to-back holiday long weekends is expected to bring good opening collection in the form of foreign currencies.

Threat

• There are 2 other major music releases in addition to the release of Don-2 movie release have been hogging the limelight away from Rajapattai
• The neutral fans and family over the holiday weekend are not too excited about the movie due to low-key promotions so far

Bottomline: By the end of the day, content is all that matters. If the content is engaging and gripping, the holiday spirit will ensure that the cash registers keep ringing until the next set of big releases for Pongal. If Rajapattai fails to trigger a positive word of mouth at the onset, the movie runs the risk of falling flat from first week.
