Rajapattai is bland

For that's what it is: one man's quest to reclaim his star-status, both on and off-screen. This Rajapattai doesn't offer much to entice the public. Even more disheartening is director Suseenthiran's work. Making an interesting mainstream movie is no easy feat, and it's obvious that his heart was not in it. There are one or two places where you can see his touch, but that's it. When it comes to plot, characterization and screenplay, there's very little that's actually worthy of being salvaged. (more)

V for Vikram, variety

If you are ready to forget all logic and want sheer entertainment for over couple of hours, 'Rajapattai' is the preferred destination. Three cheers to veteran Vishwanath who leaves his presence with a delightful performance. Sana, the newcomer plays a corrupt Minister.She fits the bill well. Pradeep Rawath makes a cameo while the likes of Avinash, Thambi Ramaiah form part of the project.(more)

Rajapattai for Vikram’s fans and action lovers

Levity is enjoyable in Rajapattai and is situational. Yuvan’s music is just ordinary sans Podi Paiyyan Polave and other refrains don’t make a mark. Madhie’s camera angles especially in action sequences warrant mention. Kasi Viswanathan should be credited for delivering a crisp product of just 2 hours and 7 minutes.(more)

What’s missing in Rajapattai is a sure-footed director’s touch.

On the whole, this old-fashioned masala entertainer is enjoyable in parts. It is vintage Vikram coupled with rich production values that makes Rajapattai watchable, despite its obvious flaws. On the whole, Vikram fans won’t be disappointed.(more)
