Rajinikanth known for his low-lying profile has not endorsed any products in his career despite his towering brand and popularity all over India. He has not shown much interest in the past trying to reach out exclusively to his cyberfans. The news of Rajinikanth entering twitter just a few days ahead of Kochadaiiyan release was suspiciously seen as a desperate attempt at stoking the pre-release buzz for Kochadaiiyan rather than a genuine attempt to interact with his ardent fans.

The fans were also perplexed when Rajinikanth's close family members and friends stayed largely silent totally oblivious to hysteria generated by Rajini's twitter entry. Rajinikanth's family members including Soundarya, Aishwarya, Dhanush and Anirudh appeared to remain intentionally quiet on Twitter. There was also no tweets nor re-tweets welcoming the superstar from any of the leading Hindi stars such as Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan who had capitalized on Rajinikanth's star value in the past. The silence among these celebrities seemed out of the ordinary given their level of (hyper)activity on twitter.
